December/January Swimmers of the Month

Nicole Winklosky (Typhoons 1):Nicole Winklosky

Nicole was chosen as our swimmer of the month for several reasons. As a six year old, Nicole has shown a lot of improvement in her strokes and dedication to swimming. She has very good attendance and comes to every mini meet. She also does very well during dryland, and is often used to demonstrate exercises! Nicole's favorite swim meet this year has been the Reindeer mini-meet because she got to swim in two relays and had a lot of fun. Her favorite events to swim is the 25 freestyle, and she enjoys working on diving, flip turns and dryland during practice. Her sister has influenced her as a swimmer, because Nicole looks up to her sister and wants to do the same activities. Swimming with her friends and sister is one of her favorite things about being on BWST. To get ready for a meet she likes to prepare by getting snacks and clothes together. One of her goals for this year is to get better times and improve her strokes. Her advice for her teammates is to cheer for everyone! If she was stranded on a desert island, she would want to have her mom, dad, and a book. When she's not swimming she likes to eat! Keep up the good work Nicole!

Holly Williams (Blue Crest):2009-12-13 19.03.43

Holly was chosen as our swimmer of the month because her coaches have seen a lot of improvement in not only her times and strokes, but in her motivation and dedication at practice. She works hard to lead her lane and improve during practice. Holly's favorite meet was the January Open because she got best times in each event and made time standards in her new age group (11-12). Her favorite events to swim are the 50, 100, and 200 freestyle. She enjoys working on starts and turns during practice. Holly has been influenced by her parents, her cousin Megan who also swims year round, and Coach Gabe. Holly took swim lessons from Gabe when she was 4 years old, so she enjoys being coached by him again. Her favorite thing about being on BWST is getting to spend time and swim with her friends. They cheer eachother on at the meets, and also compete against eachother. To get ready for a meet, Holly likes to drink one of her dad's special smoothies, and then chill out and listen to her Ipod, while cheering for her friends . One of her goals for this year is to get B and BB times as an 11 year old. She also would like to make JO cut times. Her advice for her teammates is to listen to your coaches and have fun! If Holly were stranded on a desert island she would want a pillow, blanket and food. When she's not swimming Holly likes to play basket-ball and play outside with her friends. Great job Holly!

Rex Larrabee (Rip Tide):2010-01-21 17.44.48

Rex was chosen as our swimmer of the month because Rex has stepped up as both a squad leader and swimmer. He moved from Blue Tide to Rip Tide and has been working hard on his strokes to improve his times. His favorite meet this year has been the Turkey Claus meet in December, because he made it back to finals. His favorite events to swim are the 100 and 200 back, 200 breast, and 100 free. His favorite set during practice is Ins & Outs (where swimmers get out and do exercises after each lap). His favorite thing about being on BWST is swimming with his friends. To get ready for a meet Rex likes to listen to up-tempo music and drink Gatorade. One of his goals for this year's Broad Run high school season is to make States. His advice for his teammates is to work hard and have fun. If he were stranded on a desert island he would want his cell phone, Ipod, and a bed. When he's not swimming Rex likes to sleep, eat, and spend time with friends. Way to go Rex!
